Dear Sir,

 

RE: Unsatisfactory Condition of the School Canteen

Regarding the above title, I would like to bring your attention to the matter. The school canteen is in a terrible state.

2. The floor of the canteen is always dirty and filthy. Although the food scraps and leftovers are thrown into the dustbins provided around the canteen, those dustbins are not covered. As a result, the canteen is infested with vermin such as cockroaches and rats. This is detrimental to the canteen users as the vermin might carry diseases.
3. The canteen is responsible for serving healthy and hygienic food to the pupils. However, we noticed that the canteen operators often leave the food uncovered. Swarms of flies are swarming around the food. It is very unhygienic as the flies that carry bacteria can settle on the food. Moreover, the plates on which the food is served are unclean and so are the forks and spoons.
4. Food and drinks sold at the canteen cost an arm and a leg. For example, the chicken burger is sold at RM5 per piece and drinks at RM3 per cup. They are comparatively more expensive than the food and drinks sold outside of the school. Also, the canteen food is tasteless and there is not much variety.
5. It is recommended for the school to have another canteen operator as this will increase healthy competition. As a result, the condition of the school canteen would be improved.
6. I hope Sir will look into this matter highlighted above seriously to ensure students’ health.
